A
LONG TIME AGO IN BETHLEHEM
A
long time ago in Bethlehem,
On a cold and cloudless night,
A star appeared in the heavens –
It was a truly wondrous sight.

It
shone brightly above a stable,
Such a poor and lonely place,
Where our Lord Jesus Christ was born
Through God's amazing gift of grace.

Nearby,
as some shepherds watched their flocks,
An angel suddenly appeared in the sky,
And announced the Saviour's birth to them,
And told them where He did lie.

"Fear
not!" the angel said to them,
"For I bring tidings of great joy.
In a lowly manger in David's town
Is where you'll find this precious
boy."

Then
a host of angels appeared in the sky,
Lifting their praises to God, and then
Singing "Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth,
peace
and good will to all
men."

The
shepherds then
hurried to Bethlehem,
To see if what the angel said was true.
And there they found Him as foretold –
The Saviour sent by God for you.

So
this Christmas please remember
Just why our Saviour came.
Please worship and adore Him,
And, like the angels, praise His name.

For
Jesus came to dwell with us
To set us free from shame and sin,
So give your life to Him right now,
So your new life can begin.
