Do
you ever think about why the Lord had to die on the Cross? I do, and
every time I do, I remember it was for me - that it was because of my sin
and the things in my life I have either done or not done that have hurt
God and my fellow man. It is a truly humbling thought to know that
He went through all that suffering just for me, and I am constantly asking
for His forgiveness for all the pain and suffering He had to bear.
FORGIVE
ME, LORD
Forgive
me, Lord, for all I've done
To cause You so much pain –
Please set me free from all my guilt
And let me live again.
Forgive
me, Lord, for all I've said
That has wounded someone's heart –
Please touch my lips with Holy Fire
So they Your words of life impart.
Forgive
me, Lord, for lies I've told
To cover up my sin –
Please wash me whiter than the snow
So my new life can begin.
Forgive
me for hurting others
In thought, or word, or deed –
And forgive me for not trusting You
To supply my every need.
Forgive
me, Lord, for not giving You
The honour You deserve –
Touch me now and make me whole
So that You alone I serve.
Oh,
Lord, please forgive me all my sin,
Of which I repent right now –
For my only desire is to follow You,
So Father, please show me how.
I
want to know Your will for me,
And how to others Your love to give,
So as I bow before You now,
My Father, please forgive.
