"When you were dead in your sins
and in the uncircumcision
of your sinful nature,
God made you alive with Christ.
He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code
with its regulations, that was against us
and that stood
opposed to us; he took it away,
nailing it to the cross.
And having disarmed the powers and authorities,
he made
a public spectacle of them,
triumphing over them by the cross."
Colossians 2:13-15

JESUS TOOK MY SUFFERING
Jesus took my suffering upon Himself
On the rugged Cross that blessed day –
My sin, my shame, my sickness, my pain:
He took each and every one away.
The jagged wounds upon His back;
The nails in His hand and feet:
He bore them all to set me free,
And so my healing would be complete.
Before He died He said "Father, please forgive,
For they know not what they do."
And that same forgiveness, if we ask,
Is there for me and you.
When, with a spear, they pierced His side,
His precious blood from the wound did flow –
A wondrous, cleansing, endless flood
That washed me white as snow.
As He yielded His life into His Father's hands,
The veil in the temple was torn –
Now into His presence we can come
For the barriers have been withdrawn.
Then they laid Him in a cold, dark tomb,
And sealed it with a stone,
But three days later He rose again,
To sit by His Father on His throne.
One day soon He will return,
To claim His people as His bride,
Then we will meet Him in the air,
And forever be by His side.
So, this Easter, think on what He did,
And the suffering He must have gone through,
For He gave us the greatest gift of all –
Eternal life for me and you.
