I know that most of the time I wander around not noticing the needs of others and not behaving the way I should as a child of God.  So many times I find myself stumbling along blindly, not knowing what to do and forgetting where I should go to find the answers to the problems in my life and also the needs of my friends and family.  I pray that I am able live up to the words of this poem and truly seek God's will for my life.

LORD, PLEASE OPEN MY EYES

Lord, please open my eyes
To see things the way You do,
For You do not look for outer beauty,
But look inside for the heart that's true.

Then Lord, please touch my lips,
And give me the words to speak,
So that every word I say each day
Will encourage the tired and weak.

Dear Lord, please use my feet
To guide others along their way,
And may each and every step I take
Lead me closer to you each day.

And Lord, please use my hands
To help others in time of need –
Give them the skill they need, my Lord,
Your weak and hungry ones to feed.

Then Lord, please take my heart of stone
And mould it to be like Yours –
Then use it as a vessel, Lord,
From which Your love and mercy pours.

Oh, Lord, please use every part of me
To lead others to seek Your face,
And Lord, when my life is over,
Please enfold me in Your embrace.
