 LORD,
PLEASE SOFTEN
MY HEART
Dear
Lord, please teach me what it means
To have a gentle heart like You.
Pour out the oil of Your Spirit, Lord –
Soften my heart and make it new.
Teach me how to love others, Lord;
To forgive those who cause me pain.
Remove hatred and bitterness from my heart
Until only love and compassion remain.
Show me how to be humble, Lord…
How to put other's needs before mine.
Fill me to overflowing with Your love
So as a beacon for You I can shine.
As I come into Your presence, Lord,
I will wait… I will be still.
Right now I give my heart to You
To do with as You will.
Take it, mould it, make it, Lord,
The way You would have it be,
Until all the world can see, my Lord,
Only You, and none of me.
