My Lord, I Cannot Comprehend

Most of the time I find it so hard to believe that my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, was willing to go through so much suffering just for me. Who am I that I deserve such an amazing sacrifice of love and grace. However, in His Word, He tells me that I am worthy of His sacrifice, and that His love for me knows no bounds, so who am I to doubt what He has told me is true.

MY LORD, I CANNOT COMPREHEND

My Lord, I cannot comprehend
Why You should love me like You do?
For I, a loathsome sinner,
Do not deserve a friend like You.

How could You give Your life for me
On the cross that blessed day?
But You did, and nothing I can do
That sacrifice of love can e'er repay.

Even though I'm far from perfect,
And God's law have not obeyed,
I know that You will be there,
And I have no need to be dismayed.

All I have to do is come to You
And fall down to my knees,
Then call out in repentance,
"Lord, will You forgive me, please?"

I know, in times of sorrow,
You'll shelter me beneath Your wing;
Then You'll fill my soul with joy and peace.
And cause my heart to sing.

If I reach out and give my heart to You,
And let You take complete control,
I know that I can trust You,
And my troubled heart You will console.

So, Lord Jesus, help me understand
The full measure of Your love,
And help me to wait patiently
Until I join You up above.
