THE ONLY GIFT I NEED
Father, at this season of
Christmas,
A time of praise and celebration,
I quite often pause and wonder
About all that I see going on.

Everywhere, all round about me
I see people rushing here and there,
Looking for that extra special gift,
To show someone how much they care.

They spend great amounts of money,
And waste so much precious time,
Looking for something that isn't there –
It really is such a crime.

For Christmas is a time of joy and peace,
To celebrate the birth of Your Son,
And that is the greatest gift of them all,
And it's there for everyone.

If only they would stop for a minute
And open their hearts up to You,
They'd see the great gift You are offering
To everyone, not just a few.

So, Father, in this season of Christmas,
Please, don't let me reach out in greed –
Help me to realise more fully
That Your Son is the only gift I need.
