When you think about the cross

When you think about the Cross,
What is it that you see?
Do you still see Jesus hanging there,
Bruised and broken on the tree?

Do you see the crown upon His head,
And each sharp and jagged thorn?
And do you gaze upon Him hanging there
And feel so sad and so forlorn?

Don't you realise that He was taken
down
And that He is no longer there?
For they laid Him in a cold, dark tomb;
Their hearts filled with deep despair.

But death could not hold Him in the grave,
For three days later He rose again.
Then He ascended to sit by His Father's side
And promised He'd return again.

So, don't you see, He is alive,
And we have no more need to mourn,
For by His grace we've been set free
And our hearts have been reborn.

So when you think about the
Cross,
Think of the victory He has won.
For death and sin have no more sting,
And our new lives have just begun.
