Whenever we are in trouble or strife, or we are filled with sorrow or grief, why is that the last place that we turn for comfort is the Word of God? I am sure I am not the only one who fails in this respect. God has told us that every word in the Bible is instruction for the way we are to live, and that in it will find the answers to all our problems, because it is through His Word that He speaks to us. So, I urge you, if you are in need of answers or strength to get through a trial, open up the Word of God and find the comfort that you need.

Father, Your Word is a lamp to my feet,
For it shows me the path I should take,
And it shows me that I am forgiven
If I should ever make a mistake.

It shows me that, though I'm not perfect,
You love me just the way that I am,
And that is why You sent Jesus
To be slain as our Sacrificial Lamb.

Your Word shows me that You can use me,
Despite what I've been in the past,
For so many of the people you've used, Lord,
By others were spurned and outcast.

It comforts me in times of great sorrow,
And leads me back to Your peace;
As I read it my tears are all wiped away,
And from fear and pain it brings sweet release.

Your Word on my lips is like honey,
Yet also a weapon against every foe,
And it doesn't matter how far I may wander,
It is with me wherever I go.

Yes, Your Word is the light of my life, Lord,
A river of joy to my soul,
So as I sit down and read it each day, Lord,
May my lips only Your Name extol.
